TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

NIMS ICS-100.A: INTRODUCTION TO ICS

NIMS ICS-100.A: Introduction to ICS is for all Federal, State, territorial, tribal, private sector and nongovernmental personnel at the following levels of responsibility in emergency management operations – first-line supervisor (Sergeant/Lieutenant), mid-level management (Captain/Shift Commander) and command (Battalion Chief/Division Chief/ District Commander/PIO) and general staff (Operations/Planning/Logistics/Finance-Admin). Topics covered are purpose of ICS; basic features of ICS; Incident Commander and Command staff functions; General staff functions; and facilities.

NIMS ICS-200.A: ICS FOR SINGLE RESOURCES AND INITIAL ACTION INCIDENTS 

NIMS ICS-200.A: Basic ICS course is for all Federal, State, territorial, tribal, private sector and nongovernmental personnel at the following levels of responsibility in emergency management operations – first-line supervisor (Sergeant/Lieutenant), mid-level management (Captain/Shift Commander) and command (Battalion Chief/Division Chief/ District Commander/PIO) and general staff (Operations/Planning/Logistics/Finance-Admin). Topics covered are leadership and management; delegation of authority and management by objectives; functional areas and positions; briefings; and transfer of command.

IS-700.A: NIMS, AN INTRODUCTION

IS-700.A: NIMS, An Introduction is an awareness level course that explains NIMS components, concepts and principles for political and government leaders, agency and organization administrators and department heads; personnel that fill ICS roles as Unified Commanders, Incident Commanders, Command staff, General staff; senior emergency managers; and Emergency Operations Center Command or General Staff; agency and organization management between the executive level and first level supervision; personnel who fill ICS roles as Branch Directors, Division/Group Supervisors, Unit Leaders, technical specialists, strike team and task force leaders; EOC Section Chiefs, Branch Directors, Unit Leaders; and emergency response providers and disaster workers, entry level to managerial level including Emergency Medical Service personnel; firefighters; medical personnel; police officers; public health personnel; public works/utility personnel; and other emergency management response personnel.

NIMS ICS-300: INTERMEDIATE ICS FOR EXPANDING INCIDENTS

NIMS ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents is for Middle management and Command and General staff in the Federal, State, territorial, tribal, private sector and nongovernmental personnel to include: persons with ICS supervisory positions, strike team leaders, task force leaders, unit leaders, division/group supervisors, branch directors, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center staff and managers, area commanders, and emergency managers. This 1 ½ day course covers organization and staffing, organizing for incidents and events, ICS staffing and organization; transfer of command and ICS forms; Unified Command functions in a multi-jurisdictional or multi-agency incident; and resource management.

NIMS ICS-400: ADVANCED ICS

NIMS ICS-400: Advanced ICS is for Command and General staff in the Federal, State, territorial, tribal, local and private sector and nongovernmental personnel to include select department heads with multi-agency coordination system responsibilities; area commanders, emergency managers, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center managers. This 1 ½ day course covers the circumstances in which an area command is established, and situations in which multi-agency coordination systems are organized and operated; fundamentals review for Command and General staff; major and/or complex incident/event management; area command; and multi-agency coordination.

NIMS ICS-800.B, NATIONAL RESPONSE FRAMEWORK, AN INTRODUCTION

NIMS ICS-800.B, National Response Framework, An Introduction, is for all federal, state, territorial, tribal, local and private sector emergency managers or personnel whose primary responsibility is emergency management to include: personnel in federal departments and agencies with emergency management responsibilities under the National Response Framework (NRF); officials in state, tribal, local and territorial governments with emergency management responsibilities, and personnel from agencies who support and interact with the NRF’s 15 Emergency Support Functions (ESF); and officials primarily involved in emergency planning, and private sector emergency management professionals. This ½ day course describes how the Federal Government will work in concert with State, local, and tribal governments and the private sector to respond to disasters under the NEWLY PUBLISHED National Response Framework.

CBRNE TERRORISM RESPONSE

CBRNE Terrorism Response©
is a classroom-delivered training program that covers four levels of CBRNE material: introductory awareness; operational awareness; hazardous materials technician; and incident command. It also covers the basic characteristics of civilian and military explosives, improvised explosives devices, bomb squad procedures, screening techniques, protective measures, and security methods. Internationally recognized experts, dynamic guest speakers with world-wide experience, will assist responders to be better prepared for events in their jurisdiction. The program schedule allows for interactive attendee participation and questions with the uniquely qualified speakers and includes the following topics: the threat & terrorism today; biological agents; predicting adversary actions; chemical agents; dirty bombs; high-yield IEDs and VBIEDs; coordinated terrorist attacks; and bomb squad considerations.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TRANSPORTATION ACCIDENTS

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS TRANSPORTATION ACCIDENTS© is a classroom-delivered training program that concentrates on case studies of actual hazardous materials transportation accidents. The training will clarify the OSHA and EPA laws covering all emergency responders. You will see and understand “real-world” problems encountered and solutions to actual major accident problems. Discussed are large scale accident scenes; hazmat transportation accidents; hazmat teams; detection instruments; gasoline cargo tanks; working a highway accident scene; BLEVEs; major derailments; and lessons learned.

EXPLOSIVES IDENTIFICATION

EXPLOSIVES IDENTIFICATION© is a classroom-delivered training program that covers the basic characteristics of civilian and military explosives, and homemade bombs considerations. It can be customized to include a one-hour demonstration period, and a one-hour limited “hands-on” session involving basic priming and firing techniques. It can further be modified to emphasize “bomb scare” procedures and techniques. The following basic course modules can be modified or expanded to meet the specific needs of your facility and personnel: explosives orientation; detonation characteristics; dynamite; blasting caps; safety fuse; military explosives; IEDs; bomb scare procedures; and investigating bombings.

GASOLINE TANK TRUCK EMERGENCIES

GASOLINE TANK TRUCK EMERGENCIES© is a hands-on practical exercise training program that will prepare attendees to successfully handle accidents and emergencies involving gasoline tank trucks. Participants will understand the functioning of the valving and plumbing, how safety relief features work, why gasoline cargo tanks cannot be lifted while still loaded, the different methods of product transfer, the trucking company’s responsibilities, how to safely drill an aluminum tank truck, and considerations involved in bonding and grounding.

CHIEF OFFICER HAZARDOUS MATERIALS WORKSHOP

CHIEF OFFICER HAZARDOUS MATERIALS WORKSHOP© is a classroom-delivered training program for departmental chief officers and/or senior executives that addresses assessing the scene, determining priorities, assigning roles and functions, and determining the department’s proper mission; capabilities and limitations of detection instruments, actual field performance of flammable and toxic clouds versus computer models; and the critical role of industry, the predominance of psychosomatic injuries, and weapons of mass destruction instruction. The legal liability considerations are extensively discussed and it answers the “why” of hazardous materials operations, and explains the underlying laws, nationally accepted standards of good practice, and operating principles.

DEFENDING AGAINST IEDS

DEFENDING AGAINST IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES (IEDs) and VEHICLE BORNE IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES (VBIEDs)© is a classroom-delivered training program covering the basic characteristics of civilian and military explosives, improvised explosives devices, bomb squad procedures, screening techniques, protective measures, and security methods and updates on the latest research and technologies. This training program is for individuals who will respond to, prepare plans for, or support an incident involving a suspected improvised explosives device (IED); members of the emergency and disaster recovery and responding community; and officials from the Federal (military & civilian), State, County, Tribal, local and private sector agencies. Personnel at all levels will benefit.

HAZMAT & SAFETY AT CLAN DRUG LABS

HAZMAT & SAFETY AT CLAN DRUG LABS© is a classroom-delivered training program that examines case studies and demonstrates paraphernalia and equipment seized from actual clan drug lab search warrant raids. It has been taught on numerous occasions by our experienced instructor team who has handled over five hundred clan drug labs in two states. They bring a unique fire and police department perspective. Topics discussed are chemicals & equipment; procedures & safety techniques; personal protective equipment; laws and national standards; and cleanup of clan drug labs.
